Our experience at Big Oaks Campground in Delaware was extremely disappointing. My family and friends were repeatedly singled out by the camp hosts despite not causing noise or problems. We were constantly told we had too many people, told to be quiet, and even told some of us needed to leave, while other large groups (white people) were allowed to do the same things without being bothered.
Our children were also repeatedly stopped for riding their bikes and scooters, while other children (white children) were doing the same without being confronted. Our vehicles were repeatedly stopped and checked for tickets when entering or leaving, while we watched other campers come and go without the same treatment. On one occasion, my aunt was even spoken to extremely rudely and told she could not enter unless she drove 5 mph or slower.
The repeated unequal treatment made our family feel targeted, singled out, and discriminated against. When rules exist, they should be enforced equally and respectfully toward everyone—not selectively.
This was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. It is 2026, and nobody should have to feel unwelcome or treated differently because of their race. We will not be returning to Big Oaks Campground and cannot recommend it based on our experience. My children should not be afraid to leave the camper anywhere we are.

It's a pretty low key campground with everything you need for a stay. Tent sites are in the woods so plenty of shade. People staying a few days or a week in an rv seen to have dedicated areas with full hookups. Staff is nice and helpful.

One thing to be aware of; the sewer hookup is by the front on some sites, so make sure your hose is long enough or bring an extension.

The shuttle to Rehoboth is no more, but the bike path is a really nice ride into Rehoboth or Lewes and is not difficult at all. Really hard to beat the location.

Overall we like staying here when we are down for the week. Staff has always been great. Spots have everything we need and it's easy to get around by car or bike.

Had a peaceful weekend tent camping. We were campsite W8. This is back by cabins and near bathhouse. Bathhouse had 2 showers in each restroom and 4 private showers. I thought the bathhouse was very clean. Hot water but not climate controlled. Tent site had plenty of shade and room. Campground was quiet and site level. It’s very near everything.
