Henlopen Hotel

I would avoid this hotel property at all costs. The only redeeming quality about this property is its location -- right on the boardwalk. Besides that, our room was outdated and filthy -- so much so that we cut our trip short because we were not comfortable staying at the hotel. Dried, crusted food on the room curtains, sand in the bed the first time we got in it, sand on the floor when we arrived and the screen door to walk outside onto the concrete landing was so warped, it couldn't be used. My daughters went out there to look at the ocean view. Luckily, I was still inside the room because when they came back, they, nor my husband, could open the screen door from the outside -- I had to open from the inside of the room, which was also difficult.

Their service was even worse. Front desk attendants were less than helpful. We requested extra towels at the front desk and the working attendant told me to go find the cleaning crew and ask them myself instead of her making a call to them. That was just one example of their deficits.

We prepaid for the room, with a very strict no refund policy, so it seems as though there is little motivation on their end to prioritize cleanliness or updates to the property.

I emailed the assistant manager twice within three weeks to discuss our disappointing stay and have yet to receive a response. That's just poor customer service.

Under no circumstances would my family ever stay at the Henlopen again. Would highly NOT recommend.

Stayed in a 2 queen beds suite with my family and it was a great weekend. We chose the suite for the extra sitting area (couch, bar stools, and swivel chairs). The front desk was very kind during check in, when we needed extra towels, and check out. It could have been a tad cleaner, some dust by the windows but nothing major. I am usually skeptical about cleanliness of beds and always bring my own bedding but we didn’t use it this time. I even took a nap on the balcony while waiting for my turn in the shower after the beach. Sounds the crashing waves put me out! There is no breakfast but that was not a problem at all considering how many great options there are on the boardwalk. On the same note, we kept our car parked in the garage the whole weekend because we walked everywhere. Truly, if you just need a place to shower, sleep and not be surrounded by boardwalk rush, this is a great choice!

have stayed in this hotel on several occasions over quite a few years. service has always been wonderful and rooms are always comfortable and clean. nice partial ocean views from the balcony on the regular rooms and the oceanfront rooms are absolutely fantastic. great location right along the boardwalk and less than 50 steps between the hotel property and the sand. and far enough from the hustle and bustle of the boardwalk to be nice and quiet in the evening hours. decent amount of covered parking spots on the property as well. and reasonable pricing especially considering the location. 1000% would stay here again and recommend to everyone I know heading to Rehoboth!
