Hyatt Place Dewey Beach
I had a very good stay at Hyatt Place Dewey Beach overall. First, I want to highlight Mia at the front desk, she was incredibly helpful and even upgraded my stay, which I truly appreciated. The hotel itself is well maintained, the Tesla destination charger worked perfectly, and housekeeping did a nice job refreshing the room everyday.
That said, there are a couple of areas for improvement. The biggest issue was noise: trash trucks and delivery trucks for the hotel and nearby restaurants come at all hours, and I was woken up as early as 5:30 a.m. one morning. It definitely disrupted the otherwise relaxing atmosphere. Additionally, the pool could use some attention, the water quality wasn’t as good as I would have expected.
Overall, the staff and facilities made this a positive experience!

Location, great. Rooms, beautiful. Stayed here twice due to Hyatt loyalty, but fool me once….
First time here last year, we got to our room and there was a grape on the floor. Super central on the floor. Hard to miss if someone had done even the basic cleaning. We called to ask for them to clean it up and left for about 4 hours. We got back…STILL there. Asked again for it to be cleaned. They claimed they were going to do a full re-cleaning. So the next morning after another 4 hours absence, they “cleaned” the room and later in the first shower we took, the shampoo and body wash containers in the bathroom were completely empty. How does one do a full cleaning and not check those? (Since they no longer have the little hotel bottles that is the only shampoo and body wash available. Make sure you bring your own!)
Now this year, gave them a second chance. We booked two nights. Somehow, even though our reservation was for two nights, they board their “system” for needing an upgrade and despite very specifically telling them at check in we didn’t want housekeeping and we were stay for two nights as was listed on my confirmation and app, we get woken up by loud “housekeeping” knocking on the door the next morning. We went to the front desk and asked what was going on. “The system” checked us out and said as going to check us back in for our second day?? So we REPEATED that this is a night stay and we do not want housekeeping !! We came to relax and do nothing away at the beach. Who should come knocking on the door again a couple hours later? Housekeeping!!! Another relaxing time interrupted. This is absolutely ridiculous. How can you not communicate better to your team?
If you want a nice room and location for an exorbitant nightly rate, it’s great for you. But if you are looking for good service, book elsewhere.

Hyatt Place Dewey Beach
We stayed here during the week with our two small children. The hotel is situated in Dewey beach, which I have heard can be loud and crazy. Since we stayed during the week in late August, it was quiet and nice. The hotel location is great. It’s situated on the bay, but it was a short walk from the beach. The hotel provided towels for the beach. I would have preferred an umbrella and chairs, but that doesn’t seem customary for the area and was better than nothing. The hotel lobby was pretty much as expected and the staff was nice. The pool is indoors, which was a bummer, but it was clean and ok overall. The lighthouse restaurant was probably our favorite part of the hotel. The food was solid and it had a lovely atmosphere on the water. The rooms were not great. They were not clean and there was no balcony, which I think is critical for a beach resort. There are not a lot of hotel options in this area so it’s one of the best options available, but definitely not my favorite hotel to visit.
