Ocean Glass Inn

We came to this location in November 2023 and had a great experience. The staff was friendly, the location was great, and outside the bathroom being a bit chilly, the facilities/amenities were good.

This year (2024) we had the unfortunate experience of meeting the owner of this establishment. According to her, the management staff that we met last year “ran it to the ground”. The owner checked us in and told us heating was set at 67 degrees. However the room was freezing the first night we were there. When we asked about it the next morning, the owner said we must have turned the air conditioning on and that it was essentially our fault for the room being so cold. When we tried to argue that we never used any mode button she didn’t agree and kept making lame arguments ranging from someone must have changed the mode from “oh no it’s all centrally controlled” to “why didn’t you call me even if it was 3am!”

The day we checked in and asked for more blankets she insisted we already had extra blankets and gave us one thin blanket after a lot of resistance. That makes me wonder how willing she would be to take a call at 3am!

Additionally, the lovely breakfast we had last year was nowhere to be seen. The owner told us the breakfast was now continental and there would be no hot food items. We were further told that if we were unhappy with the breakfast items, we were welcome to go to the cafe across the street.

We came back to this place due to the practices that “ran it to the ground” last year, but the owner seems to be doing a better job of doing that this year. We will not be returning to the ocean glass inn after this trip due to the abysmal customer service experience.

Dear Owner,

We really appreciate you taking the time to give us a detailed write-up on how to stay in a hotel, what is continental breakfast, how to operate an air conditioning unit.

Clearly this was the first time when I, my husband and my friends stayed in a hotel, saw continental breakfast, or used an AC.

In addition to that really appreciate you pointing out issues with our mental health. You are a gem and seem to have a good grasp of your own mental health.

Also thanks for insinuating that four highly educated and professionally successful adults were blind enough to not find those amazing extra blankets in a 443 sq ft room.

Also, nobody complained about the bathroom. We just asked when we checked-in.

Last but not the least, since you were kind enough to spell out in detail what continental breakfast is, why don’t you add your favorite word on your website as well so people like us don’t walk in with wrong expectations.

Such a great experience! Love the vibe and staff’s hospitality. Great place during the summer and all seasons. Quick walk to Revelation Brewing, the best breakfast spots in town and great karaoke at Conch Island. Cool landscaping!
